A small village that ranks among the most famous in the world, Saint-Tropez is the must-visit destination for the most renowned artists. Its port hosts grand yachts that make onlookers dream.
The old town
Dating from the 15th century, the tall houses of Saint-Tropez are characterised by their ochre, yellow and orange facades. Your excursion through the maze of streets can take you as far as the Saint-Anne Chapel, a simple pure Provençal-style building surrounded by cypress, pine and oak trees, offering an exceptional view of the sea and the countryside.
The citadel overlooks the town with its fine keep and three round 16th-century towers. From here you can admire Saint-Tropez, its gulf, Sainte-Maxime and the Maures massif.
At the foot of the citadel, Place Carnot (formerly Place des Lices) is one of the liveliest spots in Saint-Tropez with its pétanque games. It hosts a market on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Shuttles
In the summer season, traffic between Saint-Tropez and Sainte-Maxime can be very difficult. Boat shuttles are available from Saint-Raphaël and Sainte-Maxime. Find more information at the following links:
